Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to the year 4 class page. The teacher in 4A is Miss Aluriya and the teacher in 4S is Mr Smith. Both classes are assisted by the teaching assistant Mrs Dunn.

Homework:

Your child will be given both English and Maths homework each Friday, which should be completed by Wednesday at the latest.

Home Reading:

In year 4 we believe in the value of reading regularly in order to enhance your child’s reading skills. We would encourage parents to read as much as possible with their child at home. This helps to build on your child’s level of fluency and ability to interpret and extract information from texts. Home reading books will be sent home on Mondays with your child’s reading record. We would appreciate if you could inform us in their reading record of their reading at home. If your child has not finished the book we would still appreciate if you could send in your child’s reading record on Mondays.

Spellings/Timetables:

Your child will receive new spellings each week having been taught the new spelling rule to help them remember their spellings. They will then be tested the following Monday.

It would be appreciated if you could support your child’s learning by encouraging and guiding them to practise their spellings and times tables as often as possible - little and often is best!

ClassDojo:

We will be sending out letters with codes to access your child’s class dojos. We would love as many parents, guardians and carers of the children in our classes to sign up. ClassDojo is a fantastic opportunity for you to have a window into your child’s day in school. It is also a great way to keep in touch regarding issues at home or problems you or your child may encounter within the school year.

Clothing and sport:

Please ensure your child is attending school each day in full school uniform and school shoes.

Ensure your child has a water bottle that is labelled which only contains water.

Swimming takes place in 4S on Mondays. Please ensure your has their swimming kit in school.

P.E. kit will be kept in school and sent home at the end of every half term.

Medical:

Please ensure you inform either the school office or your child’s class teacher if they require any medical equipment such as inhalers or insulin or if your child has any known allergies that the school is currently not aware of.
